Winter Cooking Clubs

Did you know that eating requires us to use all eight of our senses?

For children with feeding or sensory challenges, this can make mealtimes feel especially tricky. Cooking together can be a wonderful opportunity to learn about new foods in an engaging environment while spending time with both parents and peers. Often times when children have the opportunity to cook their own foods, it can make it feel a little less scary to interact with and try them too! Our cooking clubs encourage socialization between peers and will support those who may have feeding or sensory challenges. Children of all ability levels are encouraged to join us as we have fun together in the kitchen!

All groups will be taught by a STAR Institute speech-language pathologist who is trained in the SOS Approach to Feeding and who loves to cook! Picky/selective eaters are encouraged and welcome to join! We will help meet the sensory needs of all children in class and be aware of any food sensitivities or allergies.

Little Chefs | For children ages 3-5

Cost: $30/session, $120/4 weeks
Duration: 30 minutes, 1x/weekly for 4 weeks
Dates: December 2-23, Wednesdays from 10am - 10:30am

Is your child interested in helping out in the kitchen? Join us for a class focused on using child-friendly tools so that your little one can explore and learn about a variety of foods, as well as basic cooking skills. Picky/selective eaters are encouraged and welcome to join, we will help meet the sensory needs of all children in class! We will also be aware of any food sensitivities or allergies.

Parent/adult participation for each child is required. Supply lists will be sent out each Friday (the week before class) to ensure you have the opportunity to purchase the groceries, supplies, and tools you will need. We will be using child-friendly knives, stovetop, and ovens at times.

 


Junior Chefs | For children ages 6-12

Cost: $45 per session, $270/ 6 weeks
Duration: 50 minutes, 1x/weekly for 6 weeks
Dates: November 17- December 22, Tuesdays from 3pm - 3:50pm

Come join us for a fun cooking experience in the style of MasterChef Junior and Chopped Junior! Your child will work alongside peers to learn new cooking skills and find fun new ways to learn about a variety of foods. We will have weekly skills challenges where parents will team up with their child, followed by the cooking of a main dish or baking. 

Parent/adult participation for each child is required. Supply lists will be sent out each Friday (the week before class) to ensure you have the opportunity to purchase the groceries, supplies, and tools you will need. We will be using child-friendly knives, stovetop, and ovens at times.

 


Head Chefs | For teens ages 13-17

Cost: $45 per session, $270/ 6 weeks
Duration: 50 minutes, 1x/weekly for 6 weeks
Dates: November 16-December 21, Mondays from 4pm - 4:50pm

Come join us for a fun cooking experience in the style of MasterChef Junior and Chopped Junior! Your child will work alongside same-age peers to learn new cooking techniques and create twists on favorite recipes. We will have weekly skills challenges, followed by the cooking of a dish or baking.

Parent/adult supervision for each child is recommended. Supply lists will be sent out each Thursday (the week before class) to ensure you have the opportunity to purchase the groceries, supplies, and tools you will need. We will be using knives, stovetop, and ovens at times.
