It has been exciting to see this referenced in AOTA special issues, trauma informed practice, interpersonal neurobiology and the work of autistic educators and self-advocates. As we celebrate diversity and different ways of being, we truly embrace the concept of "different not less" and principles of actualization that are central to the provision of health care.

For children with feeding or sensory challenges, this can make mealtimes feel especially tricky. Cooking and other fun food activities can be a wonderful opportunity to learn about new foods in an engaging environment while spending time with parents and/or peers. Often when children have the opportunity to learn and cook their own foods, it can make it feel a little less scary to interact with and try them too!

STAR Institute for Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) and T.A.C.T. (Teaching the Autism Community Trades) are two Colorado nonprofits who have partnered to create a series of respite camps serving adolescents who have autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Developmental Pathways has awarded the organizations a $25,000 grant to fund three F.U.S.E. (Fostering Unlimited Success and Empowerment) camps through 2018. STAR Institute offers premier treatment for SPD and brings expertise in social skills while T.AC.T.
