School Readiness

The skills we ask children to have when they enter Preschool or Kindergarten are more than academic and include social skills, listening skills, team work, communication of thoughts and ideas, following directions, completing tasks, transitioning, and ultimately being a contributing part of the group in a multi-sensory classroom environment. Many children struggle with frequent meltdowns, difficulty socializing, difficulty separating from parents, potty training, lack of independence, and delayed play skills. Join Vincentia Ferrari, MOT, OTR/L to explore school readiness and what is needed to thrive in a school environment.

Join STAR Institute's executive director, Virginia Spielmann, MSOT, for this practical presentation which aims to provide easy to digest background theory on the development of executive functioning skills, a discussion on the implications of difficulties with executive function, and take-home ideas and strategies for supporting children from the early years through adolescence and young adulthood.
