FAQ About Covid-19

For our previous updates and more information on our in-house response please read these posts: March 12th and March 4th

This page is being regularly updated.

Is STAR going to stay open?

We are constantly reviewing the situation. At present STAR is staying open. We have suspended groups of more than 6 children. Our hygiene and sanitization procedures have expanded and we are deep cleaning all our spaces frequently. Please see previous blog posts for updates on our procedures.

Can we come if we have runny noses?

Please stay home if you have a cough, fever, or runny nose. We hope you feel better soon!

Can I get my deposit back if I cancel my program at short notice?

We will hold your deposit as credit and you can use it when you rebook your program.

What are my options for treatment?

STAR remains open but if you aren't comfortable coming to the clinic we can arrange home visits (your visiting therapist will wear a mask for the duration of the visit). We can also do treatment sessions in our local park - weather dependent of course. Finally if you are in-state we can do a video conference call and support your family via the web. We understand that missing a session of body based work is less than ideal for many clients who have challenges with sensory processing and we are doing everything we can to offer flexible support in this time.

What activities can we do at home to help stay regulated?

First idea - Get outside! Go for walks, find a swing in a neighbors backyard, play basketball (and keep washing your hands). Even eating lunch outside in the backyard is going to help you feel more regulated over the course of the day. S

Second simple idea - limit your exposure to the media frenzy. Spend 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes late afternoon getting updated and fill the rest of your day with meaningful activities that help you stay connected to loved ones.

STAR will be posting regular ideas on our social media pages - check facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/STARInstituteforSPD

Is STAR ok? What can I do to help?

STAR is a non-profit and this is definitely a time of heightened vulnerability for us. Please help us keep services going through this season of uncertainty and donate today. A $20 donation, or whatever you are comfortable with, will make all the difference. Donate here.
